The Outlawz Scrapbook (and more) Summer Party challenge

If you're looking for Jillian's Birthday Blog Hop, click here.

This week the theme for The Outlawz' Scrapbook challenge is paper piecing.  This group has expanded its format to include just about all paper crafts and not just scrapbooking anymore.  This is another masculine card.  Remember, I told you that I was making a conscious effort to make more manly cards?  I printed the image, which is from Mo Manning and is called The Big Guy Grilling, onto patterned cardstock, then cut out the shirt and layered it onto the image I colored.  The pattern is small and fairly light so I hope it shows up well enough in the photos.  There are pictures from every angle so you can see all the little details that made this such a fun project.

This is a tri-fold shutter card.  Even though it was a lot more work to make, it was a LOT of fun to embellish.  The fun thing about this style of card is that you decorate both sides and there are a total of 18 panels that must be embellished individually.  I love these so much that I ended up making a template for the mats and dp panels so that I don't have to measure each one every time I make one of these.  I have two more in the making right now, one of which will be an anniversary card for some dear friends.

I made this one for my brother-in-law, who loves to grill almost year round because I thought he would get a kick out of this image.  When my sister (his wife) was alive, she loved to entertain.  She held at least 2 big parties every year; one during the summer and one between Thanksgiving and Christmas and she invited everyone she knew!  She always had live music and tables of food and beverages.  One year, they had a casino party complete with card dealers and slot machines!  She made us promise, before she passed away, that we would have a big celebration of life party in her honor.  We held that party last year and all of her friends came.  If she was watching us from on high, I'm sure she was pleased.

The deets:

The card base is Cor'dinations and all of the blue dp is from an older K-ology 6"x6" stack.   The greeting I used on the front is from Pink by Designs.  I used bits and pieces of different sticker sets that coordinated with my summer cookout theme. The word medallions are from a paper stack by DCWV called Doodlin' Around.  The ribbon and red stars are from my stash. Border strips are part of K and Company's Que Sera Sera collection.  I think that about covers it.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!  Be sure and check out my Day 4 project for Jillian's Birthday Blog Hop while you're here and don't forget to vote for your favorite project for each day!  You have no idea how much I appreciate your support.

Happy crafting!
