A Mo Manning Thank You Card

Wow! Can you guys believe that Christmas is less than a month away??? I sure can't!! I'm nowhere near ready for it and still have some cards and gifts to make. I don't know how in the world I'll get them all finished in time. I guess I'll just put one foot in front of the other and hope that I get there before time runs out.

Today, I have a card that I made for my daughter-in-law last week. She has been such a sweetheart since I moved down here and has gone out of her way to help not only with the move but also by lending a hand whenever I have needed it. So I wanted to tell her in my own way how much I love her and appreciate everything she does for everybody, myself included.

I used this sweet image by Mo Manning, called Alisa with Roses. I have made a couple of cards with this one before but I think this one is my favorite of the three. I just think this is the sweetest little girl and makes into such a soft and feminine card.

The photo above shows the box/envelope I made to go with the card. I had to improvise a bit because the card is a bit large and quite dimensional with all the flowers on it and I had no cardstock larger than 12"x12" on hand. It turned out quite well though, I think.

This card is a little more frilly than the ones I normally make but I really love this style and will probably make a few more. They allow me to embellish to my heart's content! Alisa with Roses - a Mo Manning Beauty

Hello, everybody!  Happy Sunday to each and every one of you.  I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet as I know you all have better things to do that sit here on the Internet all day, as do I.

I haven't done a Mo Manning digi in quite a while so I thought I should spread the love around a little bit.  I saw Alisa with Roses on Mo's blog a while back and I just couldn't help myself.  I had to have her.  She has everything I love... long, flowing hair, a full dress blowing in the breeze, lots of flowers and an adorable Mo Manning face. There is something wonderful about lightly starched white cotton on a summer afternoon, isn't there?

When I get a new digi, I usually color it a few times and select the one I like best to put on a card for my blog.  That's not to say that I throw the others away.  Oh, no!  I keep them in case I need a quick project for some reason or another.  I have had to pull from my stash of colored images on more than one occasion; usually a last minute birthday card.  Just a little insight into the methods of my madness.

So here is beautiful little Alisa with her basket of flowers and more in her pretty hair.

Is she not just the most delightful creature you have seen in a while?  I started decorating the inside of the card, as I normally do, and for some reason, I got a little carried away! LOL  I could almost cut this card at the crease and make 2 cards from it!  One of them wouldn't have the lovely Alisa on it though so I decided to leave it alone.  I may put some kind of verse or something on the left side or I may just reserve it for a handwritten personal message from giver to recipient.

Another card and a second take on a Mo Manning image

I apologize for not getting this posted yesterday as promised. I got a little busy and didn't get back to it until just now. I featured a card with this image a while back but I have changed the colors and used a new Nestie die that I won in a giveaway (I am totally enamored with Nesties now!).  This image is called Penelope's Party Wagon, in cased you missed it the first time I posted it.  I adore Penelope's hair!!! This time I have dressed her all in pink and yellow.  This little girl is just too cute in my opinion. I made this another easel card, which I enjoy making more than any other style except perhaps tri-fold shutter cards (not that I have made every type there is by any means).

Base card and mats are Recollections cardstock; dp is from Basic Grey's Lemonade collection. The image was colored with Copics, of course. I colored this one some time ago so I don't have a list of the colors I used. Ribbon, heart sticker and flower are from my stash. The ecru cotton lace is from Jo-Ann Crafts. The little sentiment square that says "Just For You" is actually a 1" embroidered patch that my friend, Kay sent me.

POM Challenge at The Outlawz

I have created this card as my entry into the POM (Prisma and Other Mediums) Summer Party Challenge at The Outlawz. You have seen this image by Mo Manning on my blog before but I colored this one with Prismacolor pencils, which I hadn't used since I got my Copics. It was great fun using them again after so long a time. The shading isn't quite as dramatic and the colors a little less intense with colored pencils. I don't have any Gamsol so this is just colored pencils applied to white cardstock in the usual way. I hope you like it.

The card base is a pre-made by Recollections in bright yellow orange. The double mats are orange and green glitter cardstock from DCWV's Citrus stack and the dp is from one of my favorite stacks for color, Basic Grey's Lime Rickey. The border trim is from K and Company's Que Sera Sera collection, and the flowers and leaves are from Prima. I used brads for the flower centers, which I glittered and topped with a half pearl from Recollections. The greeting is from a set of cling mount rubber stamps by Studio G called "Life: Color It In". The stamp has a gift box on it but I chose not to ink that part and to use only the text. The green pearls are also Recollections. The glittered cardstock and dp are repeated on the inside of the card. The cormer punch I used to create the area for writing a personal message is from Stampin' Up. The Happy Birthday stamp is by Stampabilities.

2nd day in a row... are you impressed? LOL!

It's another day and I have another new card for you! I can't believe we're so close to the end of the week already! I think the holiday threw me off, even though I'm not doing the 9 to 5 thing right now. Today I have a card I made for my son for Father's Day. I think I'm safe to display it so early because I don't think he knows how to find my blog. At least I hope he doesn't! I just recently discovered the world of digi stamps and I am totally head over heels with the work of Mo Manning. You can see her digis here. I found this cute image in her store and it reminded me a lot of my son... because he loves to cook on the grill and also because he's a big guy who wears a ball cap all the time! He messed his knee up pretty bad playing football in junior high school or he might still be playing. So now he has to settle for watching it on tv. Because he lives in Houston and I live between Fort Worth and Dallas, we have a friendly fan war every football season.

Okay, I digress... here's the card. I have been trying to work on my "man" cards lately so I have made three or four in the new bunch I just finished. Even though I don't think of myself as a girlie girl, I find it easy to create projects for females but for males, not so much!  I have seen many other bloggers post comments that they share my affliction so I have made a conscious effort to work on that little issue.  This is one such attempt.

Surprise! It's an easel card!  I found that I really enjoy making this style of card so I made several this week. They don't provide as much room to write a long message as standard cards do but most people don't require it anyway and they can always enclose a letter if need be. I distressed the cardstock on this one. I have always admired this technique on other people's creations but I didn't use it myself very often. I received a Tim Holtz distressing tool in some blog candy I won a while back so I decided to put it to good use.  I was impressed with how easy it was to do and with the results. I also think it looks good with this particular design. Please tell me what you think... like it or not? Please note that there is not one single bud, blossom or bit of bling to be found anywhere on this card! Unless, of course, you want to call the metal stars and oval tag bling. Haha!

Here are the deets:

Base card is craft cardstock, cream mat is Best Occasions cardstock that I bought at Walmart a couple of years ago.  All of the blue and green dp is from an older K-Ology 6" x 6" stack.  The sentiment is from Pink by Designs "Be Mine" stamp set which is available here.  This set is so versatile!  I have used several of the stamps on my recent projects and only one of them has anything to do with Valentine's Day.  Love them!  I don't remember where I got the little metal stars but I'm going to look for more of them because I enjoy using them on my projects and I used the last of them on this card.  The blue ribbon is from Michael's and the oval metal tag was part of a barbeque cookbook recipe journal kit that I won on a blog hop.  I haven't put it together yet but I think it's coming soon.  The green punched border was made using glitter card stock from DCWV and was punched with a Martha Stewart deep border punch.  Big Guy's shirt is printed onto patterned card stock, fussy cut and layered onto the colored image.
