A New Release and a New Challenge at Kenny K's

Hello, my bloggy friends! Today is the beginning of a new challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew but it just happens to coincide with a new release from Kenny too! I think all of you Halloween fans are going to love these new images for your Halloween cards and layouts.  They are so much fun to color!

I am actually on Team A and this wasn't really my week to post but I had so much fun with the new designs I just had to show off a couple of them so you can see them for yourselves.  Three of the images weren't sent out to the design team until after assignments had already been handed out among the designers on Team B so I got to make cards with 2 of the 3 latest ones! Aren't I special? LOL

Our sponsors this week are Kenny K Downloads, with 5 digis of the winner's choice, and

and the challenge theme is <drumroll, please!>

ANYTHING GOES

The images I used were Princess Pia and Trixxie Treat.  Aren't they something else! Believe it or not, I have colored Princess Pia 3 times with a different color scheme each time... but I'm only going to show you one of them today.  I'll save the other two for future posts so you'll have to wait for them. Hee hee!

Here is Princess Pia.  I hope you don't have too much trouble making out the skulls on her silver tiara.  She is accompanied by her furry friend, a Siamese cat I have named Pyewacket, after the cat in the 1958 movie Bell, Book and Candle which starred Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart.  It was one of my favorite movies growing up. Princess Pia could be a modern-day witch queen of New Orleans, in my opinion.

On the second card, I used Trixxie Treat and I think she is just divine!

You simply must stop over at the Krafty Crew's page to see the rest of Kenny's newest collection.  There are some incredible digis and the inspirational sample cards made by the talented members of Team B are all on display there too. I have been anxiously awaiting this release as next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite celebration.

That's all for today, folks! I hope to see all of your creations on the challenge blog this week.  Until next time...

Happy crafting!

A New Challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Hello again, everybody! It feels good to be posting twice in the same week. If you read my last post, you know that I have been busy, busy packing, having garage sales and preparing to move. What a drudgery!! I would almost rather be flogged than have to move but it must be done so I'm trying very hard to make the best of it and use it as an opportunity to downsize and get rid of things that I have held onto far too long.

All that aside, today is the start of a brand new challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew.  The new theme is "Favorite Ice Cream". This wasn't an easy thing for me because I have several favorite ice cream flavors and it was difficult to choose just one! So I went with an easy one... Raspberry Sherbet!

The image I used is called "Da Bomb" and you can find her as well as the newly released images here. I love this sassy young lady and thought she would be perfect for my color scheme as she reminds me a little of one of my favorite performers, Pink!

I couldn't resist coloring her hair raspberry pink in honor of the daring and dangerous chanteuse after whom I fashioned her. Check out those boots! Wouldn't you love to have a pair of boots with flames on the toes? I would!!

The patterned paper is from The Paper Studio's Paris Apartment stack.

I tied this luscious bow with strips of hot pink and pale pink organza ribbons and I colored the rose and rosebuds with Shock Pink Copic ink. The self-adhesive gems are by Darice.

And here's the inside of the card, which is not quite finished. I may cover the other side and I'll be adding a solid color oval or circle where I can stamp a sentiment and leave space enough for a personal message to the recipient. I included this pic primarily so you can see how the patterned paper looks with nothing covering it.  It just screams "ice cream" to me! LOL!

I hope you'll decide to participate in our little challenge, despite your busy summer schedules. We'd love to see what you create and there is always a fabulous prize for the winner, which is chosen randomly.... so you have as good a chance as anyone at winning.

That's all I have for you today but I'll be posting as often as I can during this transitional period. It just won't be as regularly as I normally post until I get settled into my new place in Houston. Wish me luck!  Until next time...

Happy crafting!

More Great News... I am blessed!

I have truly been blessed, my friends! I have even more wonderful news to share with you today. I have been invited to join the awesome Outlawz Design Team!!! This has been in the works for a couple of weeks but it just became official today. I am thrilled to be a part of their Paper a la Mode group. In case you're not yet a member of The Outlawz, which you have to be to participate in the challenges, the way it works is that they have a different challenge each day of the week and each challenge runs for a week. There is a mini DT for each challenge group and all of the mini DTs together form The Outlawz DT as a whole. Paper a la Mode allows all forms of paper crafting, including scrapbooking, card making, altered art, mixed media, mini albums, etc. This fits the bill perfectly as far as I'm concerned since I like to dabble a bit in all of it.

They have good participation in the challenges and really great prizes.  Everybody I have encountered has been warm and helpful.  They also feature some of the entries each week on the front page of the Gallery so that all the members can see and comment on the featured items.  I'm proud to say that one of my cards has been featured in each of the past 2 weeks.  It really is the friendliest, best-run, most organized challenge site I have seen so far and I'm ecstatic to be associated with them in my new capacity.  If you enjoy challenges, I would encourage you to check out The Outlawz.   I think you'll love it there as much as I do.

Thanks again for all of your kind words of encouragement and congratulations.  I love sharing with you all and as always, I appreciate your feedback.  You guys rock! Have a wonderful evening and a great tomorrow!

Some Exciting News!!!

I have some very exciting news to share with you today, my crafty friends!  I am thrilled to have been selected as a member of the brand new Design Team for Just Wordz Clear Stamps!!!  I'll be working with owner and designer, Kimberly, and a very talented group of four other designers to promote this awesome line of clear stamps.  If you're not familiar with Just Wordz stamps, you should check them out here.

I can't wait to get my hands on these versatile stamps so I can start creating some wonderful examples to inspire you, whether you're into card making, scrapbooking, altered art or a combination of all of these paper crafting disciplines.  Because the Canadian postal service has been on strike, there has been a slight delay in getting the stamp sets mailed out but we should have them soon so please stay tuned.

I hope you'll stop by Just Wordz and say hello to Kimberly and that you'll also visit the blogs of my new teamies, Doreen, Tammy, Corry and Tara when you get a chance.  They are all incredibly talented and I think you'll enjoy their varied crafting styles.  Give them a little love while you're there too if you will.   You can find links to their individual blogs in my left sidebar as well as on the Just Wordz website.

Thanks for sharing in this announcement with me!  I'm head over heels excited and I have been chomping at the bit to tell you about my good fortune.  I hope your week starts out as well as mine has!  I love you all!

Happy crafting!

My First Design Team Project

Okay, so today Amber at Amber's Crafts and Stuff launched her first challenge and my first official project as a member of her Design Team is posted there to help inspire people to participate in the weekly challenges.  The theme of this week's challenge is "stash buster/ anything goes" and except for the stamped image, every piece of paper and cardstock I used was from my scrap box.  I tend to save even small pieces, especially when it comes to designer papers and specialty cardstock.  I like using Core'dinations as the base of my cards because it doesn't crack when you score and fold it.  Here is the card I created as a sample.  I really like the combination of the orange, yellow and turquoise. It feels very tropical to me.

If you haven't already, why not stop by Amber's blog and see what the other talented members of her design team have created.  Then kick your mojo into high gear and create your own project to enter into our challenge.  As always, I appreciate your comments.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thursday!
