Another Design Team Friday at JustWordz

Hello and happy Friday, everybody! Friday brings with it another opportunity for the JustWordz design team to inspire you with new projects using the Everyday Sentiments stamp set. I need to remind you too, that if you'd like a chance to join this awesome team, Kim is holding "auditions" for new members right now and there are only a couple of days left to get your application in. All the information can be found on the JustWordz website but you'd better hurry before time runs out!

This week our theme is "Thank You". I have chosen a very pretty image I received from the Crafters'
Digital Art Center as a participant of their Progressive Freebies Challenge. We received 6 new images to play with for this round and this is one of those. It's a lovely mandala. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. You can find another variation of this design that I entered in the CDAC challenge in one of my blog posts from yesterday. It's basically the same except for the coloration of the digi stamp. I enjoyed coloring it so much that I have completed 3 different versions so far. This is he most colorful of the three.

I haven't finished the inside yet so I didn't photograph it. As I stated yesterday, coloring these mandalas is very therapeutic for me. I can completely clear my mind, relax and just let the color flow into the paper.  The only time I have to think at all is when I'm changing colors. This card is 6 inches square but I think I'll try as smaller version that I can use for little thank you cards. There is plenty of information on traditional mandalas on the Internet in case you'd like to learn about their history.

Love Week at JustWordz Stamps

Hello, all my lovely readers!

Well, after a few days of being without my computer, I'm back with a new project for JustWordz. The system fan went out on my desktop computer on Sunday afternoon and I had problems finding a replacement for it.  The darned computer is only about 4 years old or so and already the parts are obsolete?! I don't know how these technology companies expect the average consumer to keep up with the constant changes. I know I can't and gave up even trying years ago! I have a laptop but all my photo editing software as well as the software for my Cricut and Silhouette, along with all my bookmarks and resume are on this computer so I had no choice but to get it fixed as quickly as possible. Well, I finally found a replacement, had to drive about 35 miles to get it but thankfully, I was able to replace it myself and now I'm back up and running again.

And just in the nick of time too because it's Friday, the beginning of the weekend and time for another new project for JustWords! Yay!!! This week, Kim asked her design team to create projects about that marvelous and mysterious 4-letter word, LOVE. There are many different kinds and many degrees of love so we are going to demonstrate several of them using the fantastic Everyday Sentiments stamp set which is available for purchase on the JustWordz blog. The sentiment that she gave me to work with was "Sweet on you" and when I started thinking about it, there were at least a dozen different projects that came to mind. The most obvious, of course, is something sweet... like candy or ice cream or a cupcake, but I didn't want to go for the obvious this time so I went with a more traditional meaning. I chose an adorably sweet Tilda as my image. She is holding a basket of what look to me like Peonies, which I adore. Look at this darling and tell me that she doesn't just ooze sweetness! LOL

For some reason, Tilda's little dress looks bluer than it is in person and after trying unsuccessfully to adjust it without adjusting the color of the background, I just gave up. It's close enough to satisfy me until I have more time to mess with it.

It's Friday again... time for a new JustWordz project!

Happy Friday, everyone!  I can't believe how this week has flown. Here we are on the brink of another weekend and we're also halfway through September already! With each Friday comes a new project for JustWordz. I, and the other Design Team members have created something new using the JustWordz Everyday Sentiments stamp set. This week, Kim asked us to use the theme "Just Because" for our sentiments so we have each come up with our own combination of words to convey that idea to you, our readers. I chose the words "Just Because You're Special" for my card.

I chose another of Ina Jane's lovely angels for my card which I colored with a combination of Copics and Prismacolor pencils.

If you're a regular reader, you know how much I enjoy making easel cards. I had this pretty paper with the birds on it that I have been dying to use and they fit perfectly here.

It's only about 2 or 3 weeks until the release of 2 new JustWordz stamp sets! I am so excited about this release and I'm looking forward to getting them so I can create cards with a whole new range of sentiments including Christmas cards. Below are pictures of the new sets in case you didn't see them last week. The design team will, of course, be creating lots of new inspirational projects to share with you prior to and after the offical release. Kim is offering both of the new sets at a special pre-order price of $18.99 until they go into circulation, at which time the regular price of $20.99 will go into effect. Soooo... why not hop on over to JustWordz to find out more information and take advantage of the special price?

Don't forget to visit the other design team members to see their fabulous creations. There is a list with links to their personal blogs in my left sidebar to make it super easy for you.  That's all I have for today. I took this week off at The Outlawz so I won't have a project for the Paper a la Mode Challenge this week but I'll have some other things posted this weekend. Don't forget that we have a huge celebration coming up next month with lots of fun things in store so keep watching my blog and The Outlawz site for further details as they become available. We're looking for sponsors for some of the activities we have planned so please contact me if you're interested in sponsorship for our 1000 member celebration. It's a great way to get your name or company name out there.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you again soon.  Until then...

Happy Friday and a new JustWordz Design Team Project

It's Friday again already and the beginning of a new month as well!!  I find it incredibly hard to believe that there are less than 4 months left in the year!!!!  Holy moley!  Where has this year gone???  As ready as I am for summer to be over and fall to begin, I'm not prepared for all the hubbub that goes on around the holidays.  Well, as I can't turn back time and I can't wish the days away, I'll just have to be content with it being the 2nd of September.  With each new Friday comes a new project for JustWordz Stamps and this Friday is no different.  We had a fantastic turnout for our first blog hop last weekend and we gave away some pretty cool prizes so if you missed it, I'm sorry for you and I hope you'll be able to attend the next one.  For now, I have something a little different for you.  Kim asked us to create tags this week but that was the only guideline.  We could use any kind of theme for our tags that we wanted... sort of an "anything goes" kind of thing except that it had to be a tag.  I just can't say enough about the versatility and ease of using these stamps.  I'm not sure now how I ever got along without them and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Kim has in store for us next.

It had been a while since I made a tag but I had so much fun with this one, I made a second one that is completely different.  I'll save that one for another time but for now, I'll show you the one I made for my DT project.

Be sure to visit the JustWordz blog to see what Kim and the other DT members have created this week.  You can find links to their blogs in my left sidebar.

It's Friday and That Means a New Project for JustWordz Stamps!

Happy Friday, everybody!  The weeks are just flying by but this stubborn heat wave refuses to budge and it feels like summer will never end!  We finally got about 3/4 of an inch of rain last week but the temperature only dropped for one day and then rebounded back to it's recent "normal" of over 100 degrees!  Tomorrow is supposed to reach 107!!!  My lawn is already dead and my bushes and trees are starting to turn brown too.  I don't know how much more of this I can stand.

Well, at least it's Friday and with that comes a brand new project created with JustWordz' Everyday Sentiments stamps!  My regular followers can attest to the fact that my usual crafting style is not what I call "cutesy" but I'm making an exception this week.  I found this adorable digi stamp a while back and thought it worked very well with the theme Kim gave her design team to work with, which is apologies. I believe this digi stamp was, at one time, a freebie that I downloaded from Pollycraft though I can't find it on their site now.  My thanks to Trina, my teamie at The Outlawz for her keen eye!  It was she that suggested this might be a Pollycraft image.

I was given the words "I Forgive You" to use on my project and these cute love birds say to me, "I forgive you because I love you so much!"  Of course many situations arise throughout our lifetimes that involve forgiving someone who has made an error in judgement and those situations often occur between parent and child, friends, siblings or significant others.  In this case, I was thinking of the last option.  Often the person who did the wrong doesn't do it intentionally but that doesn't change how we, as the ones who have been wronged feel about it, does it?  Yet after we think about it logically, we find it in our hearts to forgive that other person and hope they learned a valuable lesson from the incident.  If they commit the same offense again, THEN we must consider that perhaps their act of wrong-doing wasn't unintentional after all! LOL
In the meantime, though, we forgive them and want to clear the tension hanging in the air so we can move forward.  My card was created with just such an incident in mind.  All too often, I'm the one giving the "I'm sorry" card but occasionally I get to be the one to forgive.

As you can see, when I took the photos, I had not put a sentiment of any kind on the inside.  I haven't decided if I want to do that now or hold off in case I want to change the greeting and use this card for a different purpose.  I don't have a significant other at present and my siblings will never admit to doing anything wrong (hee hee!) so the chances of my needing a forgiveness card are fairly slim.  I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Welcome to the Official Launch of JustWordz Stamps!!

Please note: This post will remain on top through July 29th.  Please scroll down for the most recent posts.

Good morning, everybody! Today is not only Friday but is also a day of celebration and great hoopla.... for me and for a new stamp company called JustWordz Clear Stamps for which I am a designer. Kim, the creator and owner of JustWordz released her first stamp set, called Everyday Sentiments. This is a mix-n-match set of 69 (count 'em... 69!) stamps that can be combined in various ways to create unique sentiments for all of your cards, layouts and other paper crafting  projects. The full set comes on a 6" x 8" sheet instead of the standard 4" x 6" sheet. And guess what!! To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Kim is offering her first set at an introductory price of $18.99 USD during the launch PLUS she is going to give away a set to a lucky visitor who leaves a comment on her blog between now and August 21st! There are several ways you can multiply your chances of winning so please take a few minutes to visit her blog and find out how.

I have created my first project using JustWordz stamps and let me tell you... they create such clear and crisp images and are really easy to use. I made a "Congratulations" card and because, as many of you know, I have been unemployed for 11 months as of yesterday, I thought it would be a good idea to project my desire to find a new job out into the universe through my card!! The power of positive thinking, ya know...  I need all the help I can get! LOL!

The card is a bit masculine in appearance but that's okay too because my younger brother is also unemployed (yeah, I know, right?)  and I'll give this one to him when he starts his new job. Hopefully he won't be off as long as I have been. So without further ado, here's my little bit of inspiration for your viewing pleasure.

I used Core'dinations chocolate brown textured cardstock for the card base and The Paper Studio dark beige cardstock from their Simple Elegance stack for the matting. The white cardstock is by Recollections. All of the dp is from my favorite, K & Company's Que Sera Sera collection and the gold glitter cardstock is from DCWV's Mariposa collection.  The image is from Stampabilities and was colored with Copics.  I used dark brown adhesive pearls from Recollections in the corners of the mat behind the image as well as on the sentiment flags. The clear skittles were courtesy of our sweet Kim. Thanks again, Kim... you rock, girlfriend! And the key, which is supposed to signify the tradition of the washroom key given to newly-promoted executives at big corporations, is from K & Company's Life's Journey collection.

Each of the other design team members has a project posted on her personal blog too so stop by and see what they have made and leave them a little love while you're at it.  I have provided links below to take you there:

Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you all back here every Friday for a new JustWordz project!  And don't forget to enter the giveaway to win a set of Kim's stamps for yourself.  I just know you're gonna love them!  Until then....

Happy crafting!
