A Steampunk Mother's Day at Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Hi, everybody! I know it's been a couple of weeks since I posted anything here. I have been extremely busy at work and just have not had the energy to do much crafting in the evenings. In fact, sometimes, I'm so tired when I get home that I am in bed by 8 PM!! Anyone who knows me very well, knows that I am a night owl by nature so going to bed that early is, indeed, a rare thing for me. It has become more routine lately, however.

Well, today is the start of a brand new challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew and it's Team A's turn to host. The theme this week really has nothing whatsoever to do with Mother's Day and when you see my card, you'll see that it certainly played no part in my own creative processes this time!

Our sponsors this week are Kenny K Rubber Stamps and Marianne Design so you'll not want to miss this challenge! As mentioned, the theme this week although not related to Mom's special day, is nonetheless a fun one. We're doing Steampunk this week!! I know a lot of you love that style so we hope to see lots of awesome entries this time.

Not only is my card not related to Mother's Day (my own mom passed on several years ago), it also is a bit unusual for this time of year. I really don't care much for the summer months as it gets very hot and humid in Southeast Texas so I decided to make something to remind me of the more pleasant temperatures of winters here. I used Helga Frost of Kenny's Steampunk Burlesque collection as the focal point for my card and my snowflakes purposely look rather like gears to go along with the Steampunk theme. I used those cute screw head brads again to give them more of a metallic look and I even added a little spinner to one of them. So without further delay, here is the lovely Helga Frost.

Yeppers! A Christmas card in May! I used silver gel pen under my Aqua Copic marker to give parts of Helga's costume a metallic quality.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

TBD

If you have a few minutes to spare, please stop by the Krafty Krew blog to see the awesome projects created by my talented teammates! We would love to have you participate as well. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day and a great week as well. Until next time...

Happy crafting!

Layer It Up with Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Good day, everyone! It's Sunday again already and that means another new challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. This week is Team B's turn to show you their stuff but since Kenny is releasing 3 new digi stamps to go with the Steampunk Burlesque collection, I decided to make a card with one of the new images too. Being an old rocker chick myself, I knew the moment I saw her that I had to color Madame Axe and put her on a card right away.

This week's theme is "Layer It Up" and our sponsors are:

with a $20 gift certificate

AND

our own Donna's prize of a gift voucher to her store!

How're these for fabulous prizes? Awesome, right?

So without further delay, here's my contribution to this week's challenge inspiration:

This guitar-totin' bad a$$ is only 4 1/2 inches tall (though you can make her any size you like) and that's a LOT of detail for so small a space, which made coloring her a bit of a challenge. Worth every painstaking stroke of the marker though (LOL)... I love how she turned out!

It's hard to tell in the photos but all of the metal pieces on the guitar and amp as well as Madame Axe's goggles, are colored in silver metallic ink and shaded with gray Copic ink to add the appropriate amount of dimension. The background paper is from the Colorful Life stack from DCWV and the gears die cuts are from Want 2 Scrap. If you haven't checked them out yet, they have some fantastic products! I also used WOW Embossing Powder in Metallic Copper Regular on the chipboard gears.

Here's a closeup of Ms. Axe so you can see the level of detail Kenny puts into these bold ladies. The Steampunk Burlesque digis are probably my favorite collection of all of his awesome images for that reason among others.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

613 Avenue Create Challenge - #8 Anything Goes (with option to Pile It On)
Challenges for Everybody - #14- Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenge - #51 Ribbons and Bling
Glitter n Sparkle - #21 Bling It On
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Layer It Up
One Stitch At A Time - #152 Use a Digi
The Squirrel and The Fox - #38 Fairy Tale or Fantasy
Want 2 Scrap - Time2Create Challenge (using Shifting Gears Silhouette and Shifting Gears Small Chipboard Embellishments)

I hope you have enjoyed your visit today and that you'll take the time to visit the Krafty Krew blog to see all of the incredible art created by Team B. We'd love to have you join the challenge too!  Have a great week, my lovely crafter friends, and until next time...

Happy crafting!

First Challenge of the New Year at Kenny K

If you're looking for the Kenny K blog candy post, click here.

Hi and happy Sunday, everyone! Today marks the first challenge of the new year at Kenny K's Krafty Krew and it's a good one. This week the theme is "Anything Goes" and we know you all love it when we do that because you can choose any image, any color scheme and any kind of project your little heart desires! Well, we on the design team love it too! You will see a wider variety among the examples we have created to inspire you and we hope you'll join the fun and enter our challenge. Our sponsors this time are:

The Prize from Kenny is 5 digis of the winner's choice.

And the second sponsor is

The prize from Laura is a stamp from her shop valued at up to $10.

The card I made features one of my favorite digis from Kenny's shop. Her name is Brianna Blaster and she's from the Steampunk Burlesque collection.

I used papers from DCWV's Colorful Life stack as well as pieces I cut out from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection. The little gears are from Tim Holtz and the little mechanical bird sticker is from Jolee's.
Is she not the coolest chick ever??? I certainly wouldn't want to mess with her! Personally, I am completely opposed to owning firearms but since it's such a hot national topic right now, I thought this would be timely. She definitely looks like she's ready for the apocalypse to me.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

The Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes
Challenges 4 Everybody #11 - Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - #48 Anything Goes
Glitter 'n' Sparkle - #14 Anything Goes
Make It Monday - #122 Anything Goes (Linky Party)
Sarah Hamer Designs - Link Up Tuesday (Linky Party)

I hope you'll take a few minutes and hop on over to the Krew's blog to see what my teammates, old and new have created for you. That's right... we have some new designers joining us this week as some of the former ones stepped down. Please welcome the newbies and give them some love. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. In case you weren't aware, everybody on the team is giving away blog candy on the 13th of the month!! To be eligible for my giveaway, which is 3 free Kenny K digis of your choice, you must leave a comment here. You can also enter for the other designers' candy by leaving comments on each of their blogs as well. There is a list with links on the Krafty Krew blog to make things super easy for you. Some of them are giving away awesome Kenny K rubber stamps! I'm envious as I don't even own one in rubber!

So welcome, 2013! I you're better to all of us than 2012 was. One of my goals is to start posting even more frequently now that I'm settled in to my new place and have my craft room pretty much organized so if you want to be notified of my posts, you can sign up on my blog for email updates. Have a fabulous week! Until next time...

Happy crafting!

It's Challenge Time Again at Kenny K's Krafty Krew!

Hi, friends, and Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I'm so happy that the summer temps seem to have departed (hopefully for good!) and that Autumn is here at long last! People ask me all the time why I choose to live in Texas when I hate the hot weather so much.  The answer is simple... this is where my whole family is and I can't imagine moving far enough away to escape the heat when it would mean not seeing the ones I love and care for.

Well, as the title of this post says, it's time again for another new challenge at Kenny K's and this time it's Team A's turn to host.  The theme is Black and White + One Other Color and for my card, the other color I chose is red.  I have always thought black and red was a sexy combination and as you can see in the pictures, the image I used is pretty sexy so it just made sense.  This lovely lady is one of Kenny's Steampunk Burlesque collection named Scarlett West and she can be purchased here. I love her attitude and the smoke curling out of the barrel of her gun! She definitely sends a message of "Don't mess with me!" Haha!

Our sponsors for this challenge are:

with 5 digis of the winner's choice

AND

with a prize of (I'm not sure yet but I'll post it when I find out).

Did you read the inside? The image reminded me of a song... if you have recently listened to a country music radio station, you have likely heard "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.  Of course, I would never dream of doing any such thing! LOL!! I do admit to having been tempted a couple of times in my life however and was it not against the law, the ol' devil might actually have won that struggle!. ; )

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

The Outlawz Copic Promarker Challenge 9/14 - The Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water)

Well, there you have it.  I hope you'll visit the Kenny K Krafty Krew for more inspiration from my incredibly talented teamies.  We'd love to see your black, white + 1 creation in the challenge too.  Don't miss your chance to win one of the awesome prizes being offered.  Have a wonderful week and until next time...

Happy crafting!
