Guest Designer card for Little Blue Buttons Stamps

Hello, everybody, and TGIF!! Friday can never get here soon enough to suit me. I like my job okay but if I'm given a choice between working or crafting, guess which one wins... every time! LOL A while back, I was invited by Olga, the sweet proprietor of Little Blue Button Stamps to design a card or two using her new images that are being released this month. I was ecstatic that she thought enough of my work to ask me to represent her and there was no way I could refuse.

I had planned to make two cards using two different new images but as my luck often goes, things starting cranking up at work just about the time I was supposed to make my cards! I am transitioning from a contractor to a direct employee and I had to spend a lot of my spare time gathering information and documentation they required to complete my background check. You may recall that I moved back in September and most of my personal belongings other than my clothing and some of my crafting supplies are still packed in boxes and are in storage so I had to take the long way around supplying the needed information.

Long story short, I passed the background check and starting July 15, I'll be working directly for the company for which I have worked indirectly since February. But back to the subject at hand. I designed the card below using Olga's image called "Miss Lilly Chef". This little cutie, although not my usual style, was so much fun to color and I just love the final results. I used Copic markers to color her and her costume is all paper pieced and shaded with Copics.

And here's the inside, complete with Neiman Marcus' chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Please stop by and see all of Olga's digis at Little Blue Button Stamps and also visit her blog at here, where my card is on display. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you'll visit again real soon. Until next time...

Kenny K Father's Day DT Card

Happy Sunday to everyone! Here it is, the middle of June already and the days continue to fly by with no sign of stopping. I know our friends in the northeastern and midwestern states are more than happy to welcome summer at last but for me, I'm already yearning for cooler weather! It's not even officially summer and we have already reached temperatures in excess of 95 degrees!!! I'm afraid that as cold as the winter was up north, the summer will be equally hot down south.

Enough of my climate commentary. Now on to more fun things.... the new challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. This week is Team A's turn to wow you with their inspirational Father's Day projects. Next Sunday is the day we celebrate fathers, those amazing male figures that head up our family units and provide guidance and discipline for our children. They are often underappreciated and Father's Day is our time to remind ourselves, and them, just how much they mean to us.

For my own contribution to the design team examples, I used Kenny's Club Kid image. The Glam Gang collection are my favorites of all of Kenny's images because they are so versatile and fun to color, aside from being sassy and sexy. Our sponsors this week are Kenny K Downloads and Marianne Designs. So without further delay, here is my Father's Day inspiration.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

TBD

Please join us this week for a chance to win some fabulous prizes and an opportunity to appear in Kenny and Elena's Spotlight next week! Take care, have a wonderful week and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Until next time...

Happy crafting!

Color Challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day's Eve to all of my U.S. bloggy friends! The summer months are upon us already and I am not at all prepared for 5 months of hot, muggy weather. People ask me all the time why I live in Texas if I hate hot weather so much and truth of the matter is that my family and friends are all here and I can't bear to leave them behind as much as I would love to live in a cooler climate.

Well, today is the start of another challenge hosted by Team A of Kenny K's Krafty Krew and this week, we're doing a color challenge. Below is the color chart for this challenge.

Our sponsors this week are:

First Challenge of the New Year at Kenny K

If you're looking for the Kenny K blog candy post, click here.

Hi and happy Sunday, everyone! Today marks the first challenge of the new year at Kenny K's Krafty Krew and it's a good one. This week the theme is "Anything Goes" and we know you all love it when we do that because you can choose any image, any color scheme and any kind of project your little heart desires! Well, we on the design team love it too! You will see a wider variety among the examples we have created to inspire you and we hope you'll join the fun and enter our challenge. Our sponsors this time are:

The Prize from Kenny is 5 digis of the winner's choice.

And the second sponsor is

The prize from Laura is a stamp from her shop valued at up to $10.

The card I made features one of my favorite digis from Kenny's shop. Her name is Brianna Blaster and she's from the Steampunk Burlesque collection.

I used papers from DCWV's Colorful Life stack as well as pieces I cut out from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection. The little gears are from Tim Holtz and the little mechanical bird sticker is from Jolee's.
Is she not the coolest chick ever??? I certainly wouldn't want to mess with her! Personally, I am completely opposed to owning firearms but since it's such a hot national topic right now, I thought this would be timely. She definitely looks like she's ready for the apocalypse to me.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

The Outlawz Saturday Paper a la Mode - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes
Challenges 4 Everybody #11 - Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - #48 Anything Goes
Glitter 'n' Sparkle - #14 Anything Goes
Make It Monday - #122 Anything Goes (Linky Party)
Sarah Hamer Designs - Link Up Tuesday (Linky Party)

I hope you'll take a few minutes and hop on over to the Krew's blog to see what my teammates, old and new have created for you. That's right... we have some new designers joining us this week as some of the former ones stepped down. Please welcome the newbies and give them some love. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. In case you weren't aware, everybody on the team is giving away blog candy on the 13th of the month!! To be eligible for my giveaway, which is 3 free Kenny K digis of your choice, you must leave a comment here. You can also enter for the other designers' candy by leaving comments on each of their blogs as well. There is a list with links on the Krafty Krew blog to make things super easy for you. Some of them are giving away awesome Kenny K rubber stamps! I'm envious as I don't even own one in rubber!

So welcome, 2013! I you're better to all of us than 2012 was. One of my goals is to start posting even more frequently now that I'm settled in to my new place and have my craft room pretty much organized so if you want to be notified of my posts, you can sign up on my blog for email updates. Have a fabulous week! Until next time...

Top Tip Tuesday and Kenny K... what a dynamic duo!

Hi, everybody!

Well, as I mentioned in my last post, today is Thanksgiving at our house. My son has to leave to go back to his job offshore early tomorrow morning so we're doin' it up right today.  We're having the traditional fare: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies and pecan and pumpkin pies as well as banana and apple-pumpkin bread. I know that someone is going to have to push me home in a wheel barrow after this meal but oh, how I look forward to it every year! It's the one time during the year that I can really eat without a lot of remorse because I know that everyone else is doing the same thing. LOL!

It's also a special day for the design teams at Top Tip Tuesday and Kenny K's Krafty Krew because Kenny is sponsoring the challenge at Top Tip Tuesday this week and some of the Krafty Krew have been invited to join in the fun.  So all of our projects go along with this week's theme, Kids or Teens.  Kenny has so many cool images to use for this kind of theme that I truly had a difficult time deciding which one to use.  I had colored this one a while back (2 different versions to be exact) but had never used it on a card so I thought this the perfect opportunity. And her name is perfect too... she is called "Club Kid" and you can find her for purchase in Kenny's shop.

I don't have as many photos as usual because it was overcast when I took them and had to use artifical lighting so some of them didn't turn out as well as I would have wished. But I did manage to get a pretty good closeup in case you're interested in the details.

I used DCWV's Colorful Life stack for the background, which I matted with blue foil cardstock and mounted on a 5" x 7" black base card. The black border is part of a really cool velvety ironwork-looking sticker roll that I think I got at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago.  The bird, padlock and "with a passion" are epoxy stickers by Creative Imagination and the glitter letters are by Me & My Big Idea. I can't wait to hop over to the TTT blog to see what their DT has done. Why don't you join me? And if you have time, we'd love for you to enter their challenge. The winner will get some cool prizes.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Through The Craft Room Door - #45 Anything Goes

I'll be back on Thursday with another new card for you. I wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving if you reside in the U.S. and a glorious week if you live elsewhere.  Until next time, my friends....

Happy crafting!

Time For A New Challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew

Hi, all! It's that time again! Yepper, time for a brand new challenge at Kenny K and this week, the theme being presented by Team A is "Monochrome". That is to say that we want you to create your project using varying shades of the same color. I have to admit here that this was a huge challenge for me too! Anybody who knows me knows that I am ALL about color so using only one, even in multiple shades was way outside my comfort zone. But I did it and I am quite tickled with the outcome... so much so, in fact, that I created not one but TWO cards using the same basic design and the same digi stamp but in different colors. Once I got started, I couldn't stop and I was very tempted to make a third but I thought my time might be better spent working on future assignments instead. LOL

So, here are two color variations using Frieda Flapper. I had not colored this image before so I had lots of fun with her. She's a party girl to be sure! The first one I did in shades of teal using paper from K & Company and the second is done is shades of red using a combination of DCWV and K & Company papers.

Which one do you prefer? I can't decide! For more inspiration, visit the Kenny K Krafty Krew blog and see the incredible examples created by my talented teammates. Also, if you're up for making your own New Year's Eve party invitations, see my post for yesterday. I used another of Kenny's awesome designs, "Happy Hour", to make a set of party invitations using WOW Embossing Powders and a non-traditional color palette. I love how they turned out!

I am entering one or both of these cards in the following challenges:

Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - # 78  Tic Tac Toe (I chose Gens, Ribbon, Flowers)
Crafty Catz Challenge - #158 Anything Goes
Fat Pages and Cards - #26 Add a Sentiment/Anything Goes
Pattie's Creations Design Challenge - #56 - Birthdays
Challenges 4 Everybody - #7 Anything Goes

I'll be back in a couple of days with an entry for Saturated Canary's new challenge and no telling what else. It's so great having a space dedicated to my crafting addiction! So, until next time, have a wonderful weekend and...

Happy crafting!

A new challenge at Saturated Canary!

Hello out there in Blogland!  It's time for a new challenge at Saturated Canary this week and the theme this time is "Make it Dotty!". That is to say, use polka dots or any other kind of dots in your design.  For my inspiration creation, I used a combination of polka dots and multi-sized dots in the background.  The image I used is one of Krista's newest, called Sparkle Nurse and you can buy her here.

When I was a girl, the volunteers at the local hospitals were called Candy Stripers and they wore pink and white striped uniforms quite similar (with the exception of the mouth with fangs) to the one worn by Sparkle Nurse so I modeled my version after that memory.  I can recall wanting to be a Candy Striper when I grew up and thought those uniforms were the coolest things EVER!

So without further ado, let me present to you my Sparkle Nurse! Isn't she a delightful little blood-sucker? LOL!

Here's a closeup of her, showing all the details.

As you can see, I haven't added any kind of verse or sentiment to the inside yet. I know several nurses so I decided to wait until I determine who the recipient shall be.

Be sure and visit the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog and see all of the beautiful creations from the rest of the design team.  I hope to see some familiar names in Mr. Linky too so get those spotty cards ready! That's all I have for you today so until next time, my friends...

Happy crafting!

It's Kenny K Day at Anniebee's Craft Room

Hello, Kenny K fans and all my crafty friends!

I have decided to have a special day dedicated to the fabulous artwork of one of my favorite illustrators, Kenny K.  You are most likely familiar with his work or at the very least have been exposed to it at some point if you spend much time on the Internet and especially so if you're a paper crafter.

I have a total of 6 cards that I will show you featuring his digital stamps.  Each one was hand-colored by yours truly using Copic markers.  I just love his bold designs.  They are somewhat stylized similar to caricatures, yet they have a large amount of detail for that style of drawing.

I will tell you the name of each digi with each section of photos.  I don't have time or energy to list all the marker colors I used.  I would probably still be writing this time next week if I were to attempt to do that!  I use a very large number of colors on each image I color to achieve the depth of color and contrast.  This is why I usually don't list the markers in my blog posts.  If you have any questions as to how a particular effect was achieved, feel free to leave me a comment and I will do my best to explain.

Now, before we begin, I urge you to grab a cup of coffee or some other libation because this post will be long and heavily laden with photos.  Ready?  Okay, here we go!  Click on the individual pictures to enlarge them.

First we have "Cheyenne", one of Kenny's pin-up girls.  This girl is near and dear to my heart... first because she's a cowgirl (I'm Texas born and bred!) and second because in my younger years, I drew a comic strip that had a similar "lady" as it's main character!! It was rather risque in nature so I would never display it here but I don't know what happened to those sketches so it really doesn't matter, does it? LOL! I made this card for a former co-worker who was leaving the company.  His departure led to the closing of the office part of the branch I worked in and soon after to my being laid off.  That sucked but I like how the card turned out and the recipient loved it!  He's a native Texan too.

Next up is the star of the team.  This digi is called very simply, "Football".  Since my grandson plays, I had to have this digi for his birthday card and layout.  This one is not colored in my grandson's team colors but I think it turned out pretty cool.

Next is "Cool Trucker"... isn't he though?? LOL! I hope my son doesn't see this because I made this Father's Day card for him.  He's into off-road 4 wheelin' so I thought this a fitting way to thank him for my wonderful grandkids.  This one presented a bit of a challenge for me.  I had never colored a vehicle before but it was so much fun that I discovered I want to do more.

And now there's the sexy but adorable "Troublemaker".  This was actually the first Kenny K digi I ever colored and I just love her!  She reminds me of my 17 year old granddaughter, in appearance and in attitude! Hee hee!

I entered this card in the following challenges:

Oozak #3 - 2 Patterned Papers and Embellies

Up now is "Dirt Bike Mike"! This dude just screams EXTREME, doesn't he?  He looks like a fiend who really eats, breathes and lives his sport!  I have several friends and acquaintances who race dirt bikes and I made this card in their honor.

And last but certainly not least is "Carmen Electrifying" with her friend "Heidi Hot Rod".  These two babes are sizzlers, aren't they?  Awesome for the biker or auto racing fan on your card list.  That's Carmen on the front and Heidi on the inside but I thought they looked enough alike that I could use them both on the same card.

Now, I guess you're wondering why the heck I decided to post all these cards at one time instead of singly.  Well, the answer to that question is quite simple.  I have decided to apply for a position on Kenny K's design team.  He has an open call right now and when I found out about it, I decided that it would be fun to color more of his awesome designs to inspire other coloring fanatics like me to try something a little different, if they aren't already hooked on Mr. K's digis.  It would be HUGE to be selected but there is some really stiff competition out there.

Well, what do you think?  Now you know what I have been working on these past couple of months.  Well, some of it, anyway.  That's right... there's more to come!   As always, your comments are welcomed and appreciated.

I may enter some of these cards in various challenges if I can find some suitable ones, but that is yet to be determined.  My main objective with this post was to put all my Kenny K in one place for my DT application.  Wish me luck!

And until next time...

Happy crafting!
