My Last Design Team Friday with JustWordz Stamps

This will be my last project for the JustWordz design team. The current term ends today and Kim is in the process of selecting and notifying her new team members. They will soon take the reins and I have no doubt at all that they will provide every bit as much creative inspiration as the current team has. I hope they have as much fun as I have had these past 4 months. This is a wonderful and extremely talented group of women and I'll truly miss working with them and with Kim. This is both a sad and exciting moment for me. I am sad that this term has ended so soon and I am saying goodbye to some really great artists and friends but I am also excited for the new path I have chosen. More on that later but now it's time to talk about my project.

This week, Kim asked us to create a project for a specific family member. My assignment was to make something appropriate for a sister. Well, my youngest sister's birthday is coming up next month so that worked out pretty perfectly, didn't it? I've had this lovely digi stamp in my library that I have been wanting to color so I decided it would be a good one to use for this purpose. I don't recall who the artist was that created it so if any of you know, please tell me so I can give him/her the credit.  In my opinion, this design just "begged" to be pieced.  It's a ceramic or earthenware pitcher holding a bouquet of roses.  Simple but elegant.  I love the yellow and blue color combination seen in French Country decor so I colored the pitcher in those colors.  I also colored the two uppermost blossoms 3 times so I could cut and layer them to make them look 3-dimensional.  I stamped my sentiment, for which I used the Everyday Sentiments stamp set, onto a distressed tag and tied a small piece of hemp cord through the hole and popped it up on the card. I hope my sister likes it and I hope you do too.

Materials and supplies:

Base card - Core'dinations cardstock in royal blue
mats - Core'dinations cardstock in royal blue and beige
DP - DCWV Tradewinds stack
Image - artist unknown
Medium - Copics
Sentiment - JustWordz Everyday Sentiments
tag - 7 Gypsies
paper rose - Recollections
Scotch ATG adhesive
foam tape - from Big Lots
Inside stamp - Inkadinkadoo

I am entering this card in the following challenges: TBD

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back a little later with a very important announcement.  Until then...

Happy crafting!

Design Team Friday at JustWordz and an announcement

Here we are at the end of another week!! The time just keep marching along so fast that I can't seem to catch up. We're already going into the second week of October and Halloween will be here before we know it.  And you know what that means.... Thanksgiving and Christmas are right behind! Well, I'm not going to worry about that, at least for today. Today is Design Team Friday at JustWordz Stamps and I have not one, but two new cards for you. The theme Kim gave us for this week is Sympathy/Sorry and I created a card for each of those. Actually, I was supposed to do Sorry but I needed a sympathy card for my stash so I went ahead and made one while I was in that mindset.  This post is going to be a little long because I have some news to announce at the end of it.

The first one is the Sorry card. I can't remember where I got this lovely image but I really like it and have been wanting to color it for some time. The flowers are called Violas and to me they look like a hybrid between a Pansy and a Violet. I love their happy little faces, which are very similar to those of the Pansy, and their tri-coloration. I exaggerated the yellow a little bit to make it show up better but the other colors are fairly true to form.

Next up is the sympathy card. It is similar to one I made a few months ago but because I didn't have very many followers at that time, I thought it would be okay make another one. Besides, I had already colored the image and just needed to put it on a card. It features a cute covered bridge that was drawn by my very talented Outlawz teammate, Anne Fenton. We don't have these types of bridges in Texas. I just love them though and would love to visit New England some day  to see them in person.

I don't know why but the colors on this one are a little washed out on my blog. They are a lot more vibrant in person and in my online photo library. I haven't finished the inside yet.

I used JustWordz Everyday Sentiment stamps to create the greeting on both of these cards. As I have told you every Friday for the past 4 months, these stamps are so versatile and easy to use, I have come to rely on them more and more in my card making. I have been up all night working on Halloween cards so I'm not going to post the details this time but feel free to leave me a comment if you have any questions about either card.

Now for my announcement.  JustWordz is having an open Design Team Call!!! That's right, this term is already drawing to an end and Kim is accepting applications for new designers to join her team. If you have ever entertained the idea of joining a team (it's a fun one to belong to) and if you want to work with some awesome sentiment stamps, think about applying. Visit Kim's blog for all the details!

Also, don't forget about the big celebration going on at The Outlawz Challenge site! You have all weekend to participate in the games, challenges and blog hop for chances to win some spectacular prizes from our awesome sponsors!

That's all for today. As soon as I can finish up the cards I was working on last night and get the  pictures taken, I'll have several more posts for your viewing pleasure. Have a wonderful weekend, everybody! Until next time...

Happy crafting!

A Brand New Paper a la Mode Challenge at The Outlawz in Celebration of reaching our 1000 member milestone

Hi, everybody!  In case you haven't been by here in a few days, I have been posting projects left and right! Between Friday morning and Saturday morning alone, I posted 5 new projects!!! That's definitely a record for me but I really enjoyed all of it except for the typing part. I took Sunday off to rest up and to get ready for all the posting I'll be doing in conjunction with the 1000 Member Party that's kicking off at The Outlawz tonight! Woo hoo!! I have been talking about it for at least a week now and the time has finally come! You really need to check it out because we are having some very fun games with fantastic prizes  in addition to the regular challenges and special party challenges and a blog hop! If I wasn't on the design team, I would definitely participate in every activity I possibly could. The $100 gift certificates donated by our fabulous sponsors, Oozak and SCACD, are well worth joining, not to mention all the other prizes donated by our very generous sponsors just for this celebration.

The theme of the Paper a la Mode challenge for the party is to use fall colors without using a fall theme. In other words, use a fall color palette but don't use a typical fall image or sentiment. I made a card using shades of green, gold, and orange with just a tiny touch of turquoise but the image I used is a fairy by Phee McFaddell, one of my new favorite illustrators, and the sentiment is for a best friend's birthday. So without any further delay, here is my card.

I don't know that it's my favorite card ever but I was pleased with the results, especially the coloring on the image. And here are the details, in case you're interested.

Materials and Supplies:

Case cardstock - Core'dinations
Glittler cardstock for mats - DCWV Glitter Stack
DP - K & Company Handmade Adhesive Paper Pad (4.75" x 6.75")
Image - Phee McFaddell (colored with Copics)
Lacy borders - Sizzix die
Dark orange miniature rose blossoms - Recollections
Greeting label - Spellbinders Shapeabilities (Fancy Labels)
Greeting stamps - JustWordz Everyday Sentiments
Tan chalk ink for distressing
Die cut shapes for writing spots inside - Nestibilities Labels Eleven die
Gold and white gel pens for detailing
Ribbon from my stash

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed seeing my little card and I hope I inspired you to create your own project for our challenge. Don't forget to check out all the games as well as the other challenges and the blog hop will be coming up soon so watch The Outlawz main page for that announcement. Thanks for stopping by. As always, your comments are welcome and appreciated.  Until next time...

A New Project for JustWordz Stamps

Good morning and happy Friday, everyone! The weeks have been flying by lately, haven't they?  Or is it just me?  Well, because it's Friday again, that means it's time for a new project for JustWordz Stamps!  This week, I have a new card for you and this just happens to be one of my favorite ones EVER!  I'm going to cut straight to the chase this time and show you the card.

This is the sneak peek that I sent to Kim so she could display it on her blog. Beginning next week, she'll have our entire projects posted and not just a sneak peek.
This is the front of the card, showing the tag in the photo above as well as the sentiment.  This gorgeous image is by an artist who goes by the name of Phee McFaddell and who is now one of my favorite illustrators.

It's another easel card.  This shows the card opened up.

I'm having so much fun figuring out all the ways in which I can use the Everyday Sentiments stamp set to create my own greetings and sentiments for my cards and other projects.

They are just so versatile and I love being able to mix and match them to say exactly what I want to say and they are so easy to use.

Isn't this butterfly fairy beautiful?  I have colored several other images from the same artist that I will be showing you soon.  They are very detailed and sometimes I have to wear a magnifying visor to color them.  They are worth the extra effort though.

Now I have some fantastic news to share with you!  Kim is releasing 2 new sets of JustWordz stamps in about 3 weeks and she is offering a special pre-order price to anyone who orders them now.  Here are images of the new sets.  The first set is called "Party Time" and the second set is "Christmas Season".  I'm so excited about them and can't wait to start playing with them!  I can already think of dozens of ways to use them.

Be sure and visit Kim's blog to get information on pricing and while you're at it, visit the blogs of my teammates to see their awesome creations.  You can find links to their personal blogs in my left sidebar.

Materials and Supplies:

Card base - Core'dinations

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

I hope you like my card as much as I do.  It was so much fun to make that I plan to make more using the different images from Phee McFaddell.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Tomorrow will start a new Paper a la Mode Challenge at The Outlawz so come back then to see another new project.  Until then...

Happy Friday and Another Project for JustWordz

Another week has come and gone as we edge just a little bit closer to autumn. I am so ready to be rid of this scorching heat, I can't even tell you! We have had temps over 100 degrees for 27 consecutive days as of yesterday, the third most in history. But they're saying that we may get a temporary break if a storm system (not the tropical depression Don) manages to hold together long enough to reach us. I've been doing a rain dance all day! Even if it does get here, it will only drop down to the high 90s during the weekend and then will go back up early next week. I'll take every little degree I can get though.

Today is the JustWordz Design Team's second presentation and therefore, another chance for you to enter the giveaway for a set of JustWordz Stamps. Visit the JustWordz blog for details on entering the giveaway. For my project, I made another easel card. This one uses an awesome digi stamp by one of my Outlawz teamies, Anne Fenton. Anne has a number of her digi stamps available at no charge to all members of The Outlawz so if you like this one, you might want to consider becoming a member so you can pick up some of the freebies that are offered on the site.

This pretty teacup and napkin are colored with Copics and coated with Diamond Glaze to give it the appearance of fine china.

The recipe:

Card base -  Best Occasions textured cardstock (berry pink)
DP - K & Company (Jubilee and Que Sera Sera)
Image - Anne Fenton
Flowers - handmade by me
Butterflies - MS punch
Pearls - Recollections (centers of small flowers are colored with Copics)
Button and ribbon from my stash
Paper doily and mat behind cup - purchased from Jo-Ann's
Leafy vine - Sizzix
5-petal retro flower punches by Fiskars (large) and EK Success (small)
Large Scalloped circle - EK Success
Greeting - JustWordz Clear Stamps
Inside sentiment - my own words
Glimmer Mist - Viva Pink

So, there you have it!  As always, your comments are welcome and appreciated.  Don't forget to stop by JustWordz to enter Kim's giveaway and visit the blogs of the other JustWordz design team members to see what awesome creations they have displayed to inspire you!   You can find links to their blogs in my left sidebar.

I'll have another project to show you either tomorrow or Sunday that I have been working on the past few days.  It's about 3/4 finished so if the rest goes together smoothly, it should be finished some time tomorrow.  Until then....

Happy crafting,
Anniebee
