A Big Happy Birthday To My Brother

Hi, everyone! It's been a couple of weeks since I posted so I thought I would kick off a new round of cards with the one I made for my brother's birthday this month. He's not quite 2 years younger than I am and we were extremely close growing up. Well, my brother and his wife just bought some property in a little rural community in northeast Texas and for Christmas, my brother bought an old tractor! Their plans are to clear the property, build a home and live as much off the land as possible and in the process they want to downsize to just what they need to be comfortable.

Long story short, I decided to make a card for my brother celebrating not only his birthday but also his acquisition of the old tractor. He has always loved working on mechanical things and he had to do some work on it to get it running properly but I guess it's operating just fine now. I haven't seen it in person but the photo below is what inspired this card.

I don't even know the make and model of this old tractor but I think it's kind of cool looking.

I found this digi stamp online at Just Inklined and spent a few hours coloring it with my Copics to resemble my brother's tractor as closely as possible. The front wheels and grill are a little different but otherwise, I think it's a pretty good likeness.

I never knew how much enjoyment I would get from hand coloring farm implements but I really had a ball with this one. It was fun trying to get the shading to look relatively realistic and even though it's far from perfect, I love the way it turned out.

My brother loved it too... and that's the most important thing!

Below is the inside of the card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges/ Linky Parties:

Card Makin Mamas - It's Birthday Time
Card Crafter's Circle - #62 Paint the Town Red
Natalie and Amy - #6 Something Old and Something New (My something old is the papers which have been in my stash so long, I don't even remember where I got them and the die used to cut the tree branch. My something new is the digi stamp by Just Inklined that I bought just for this card.)
Sandy's Crafty Creations - February Anything Goes with a Twist (Must be for a birthday)

That's it for today! I hope you all had a beautiful Valentine's Day yesterday. I got a very sweet card and a box of Ghirardelli chocolates from my son, daughter-in-law and grandkids and naturally, I made cards for them. I'll be back tomorrow with the one I gave my sweet grandson. Thanks for dropping by today. As always, I welcome your comments and questions. Until next time...

Happy crafting!
