challenge #13 at Amber's Crafts and Stuff - Something Special For the Guys

It's time for another challenge at Amber's Crafts and Stuff and with Father's Day quickly approaching I thought it about time for me to post another masculine card that can be used for Dad's special day. It features another Phindy's Place digi stamp titled "Mr. Brown on Vacation ". This image reminds me of my brother who is  2 years my junior.  He loves to fish and he loves to take it easy... it even looks a lot like him, mustache and all! This image was fun to color but it was a little tricky trying to get the inner tube to look like black rubber and the water look like liquid. I hope I accomplished both of those tasks. The water required a very light hand, much lighter than I used on most of the other cards I have been displaying lately. However the inner tube required several layers of varying shades of grey and finally of black to achieve the look I was going for. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I just love the mini inner tube holding the beer can, tethered to Mr. Brown's float!  That's seriously cute, in my opinion!

When I was married, my husband and I used to ride our Harley down to the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country to float several miles down the river and shoot the rapids. We always took a cooler full of beer and sodas along in a separate tube which we tethered to one of our tubes just as Mr. Brown has done. We lost the cooler a couple of times going through the rapids but we always managed to retrieve it, though sometimes the cans were gone. Other floaters usually found the cans floating in the water and occasionally we heard someone shout out a "Thank you" to whoever lost it! Those were fun times, especially when we went with a large group of motorcycle riders. We would often tie a bunch of the inner tubes together and have a big party floating down the river.  But that was another lifetime.

Anyway, back to the card. The image is colored with Copics. The base card is Core'dinations and black mats are Recollections basic cardstock. The dp on the front is from the same My Mind's Eye Home Glitter Book that I have used on several of my most recent cards. Have I said that I LOVE this stack? The paper on the inside is from the Best of K and Company stack. I think originally it was in the Que Sera Sera stack but I'm not 100% sure about that. The ribbon is from Michaels dollar bin and the greeting is from Pink by Design. I haven't put a sentiment on the inside yet because I'm not sure what occasion I'll use the card for.

That's it for today. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for joining Mr. Brown (how coincidental, huh?) and me on our little float trip. I'll be back tomorrow with a new project so I hope you'll come back and check it out. Have a wonderful day.

Happy crafting!

  3. Anniebee, You remind me of happy times growing up in Texas and New Mexico. It's been so long ago. I just wanted to let you know that I still haven't found your note with your mailing address for the candy you won. Would you please email it to me at texastransplant69@yahoo.com?

I'll get it out as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
